As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you’ll be a part of a growing field that focuses on helping others

The Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program is an 11 month full-time or 18 month part-time (1376 hour) program consisting of classroom and clinical experience. Coursework includes general and specialized nursing subjects. Topics include: Nursing Principles and Skills, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical and Surgical Nursing, Nursing Issues, Pharmacology, Nutrition, Growth and Development, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Pre-employment Skills. Clinical hours are attained at local hospitals or long-term care facilities. Approximately 40 percent of the program is spent between hands-on lab and clinical experiences.

According to the Department of Labor, www.lmi.state.oh.us, employment LPN’s is projected to grow 11 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations. As the baby-boom population ages, the overall need for healthcare services is expected to increase. LPNs will be needed in residential care facilities and in-home health environments to care for older patients.

All students must maintain a minimum average of 78% in all classroom work and pass clinical work. Additionally, 93% attendance required.

Successful LPN graduates receive a certificate, school pin, and are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN licensing exam.

Apollo School of Practical Nursing is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing, the State of Ohio Department of Career Technical Education, and is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE).
