This course is designed to present a simplified approach to building
a practical medical vocabulary. The student will learn vocabulary
as it applies to the major body systems. Class is limited to 15 students.
82 hours of training prepares for mandatory testing.
04-05 Courses: Activities for the Elderly, Oral Health and Aging,
Legal Considerations, Knowledge Bowl, Pressure Sores/Skin Care,
Humor in the Workplace, and Adult CPR/AED training.
Learn Medical Transcription techniques with hands-on practice using various medical forms including history, physicals, discharge summaries and more. You will be varying dictation styles. Basic editing and proofreading will also be covered to help transcribe accurately and efficientyly. Will need word processing skills and Medical Terminology knowledge.
Students will learn how to: Set up the operating room with surgical instruments and equipment; Wash and sterilize instruments; Assemble, adjust, and check non-sterile equipment to ensure it works properly; Prepare patients for surgery; Transport patients to operating room and help position patients on the table; Pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and assistants; Hold retractors and cut sutures; and Gown & glove surgical team members.
Subjects include universal and IV procedures, homeostasis, venipuncture,
complications, eqpt.and psych. Class includes four clinical hours.
Diagnostic Coding; Procedural Coding; and Insurance and Claim Processing will be taught.
1376 hours prepares the student with needed knowledge.

This class will provide a comprehensive classroom and clinical education in Phlebotomy. You will learn techniques, skills, and equipment for the purpose of safe and effective blood collection. The students will be expected to demonstrate the ability to obtain patient's blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection techniques.
Students will learn how to: Complete patient history and measure their vital signs, weight, and height; Assist physicians with examinations and procedures; Perform routine laboratory tests; Operate electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment; Administer medications to patients; Draw blood and give injections; Clean and sterilze instruments; Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients; Complete insurance forms; Maintain medical/office records; Operate office equipment, process office communications, perform reception duities; and Process Medical Transcription.
