A
certificate is granted from Apollo Career Center upon
successful completion of the program. Graduates are eligible
for the voluntary national certification exam to earn the Certified
Medical Assistant® (CMA) credential.

In this course, students
will learn how to:
- Complete patient history and measure their vital
signs,weight, and height
- Assist physicians with examinations and procedures
- Perform routine laboratory tests
- Operate electrocardiograph (EKG) and other equipment
- Administer medications to patients
- Draw blood and give injections
- Clean and sterilze instruments
- Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients
- Complete insurance forms
- Maintain medical/office records
- Operate office equipment, process office communications,
perform reception duities
- Process Medical Transcription.
The course also includes
Anatomy & Physiology, Professionalism, Pharmacology, Clinical
Procedures I & II, Medical Office Procedures, Medical Billing
& Coding, Medical Transcription, and Office Communications.
Employment
of medical assistants is one of the fastest growing occupations
through
as
the health services industry expands due to technological advances
in medicine
and
an aging population. Medical assistants are primarily employed in
outpatient
settings
and laboratories.
The
Apollo Career Center Medical Assisting Program is accredited by
the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
(www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Curriculum Review
Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment

is the only one-year program in the area that is accredited and
students can earn their CMA.
