Truck Driving Employment Opportunities

Truck Driving School
The Apollo Truck Driving Academy offers:

  • Class A CDL Training.
  • Class B CDL Training.
  • Passenger/Bus, hazardous material, double/triples, and tanker endorsements.
  • Co-op program providing credit hours with a pathway to a two-year associate degree.

  • CDL training Ohio - now conveniently located at the Apollo Career Center campus in Northeast Ohio.  I-75 exit 120 in Lima, Ohio.

  • Small class sizes to help personalize your experience and increase your behind-the-wheel training.

Our courses will help the student pass the Commercial Driver License (CDL) tests and cover the topics they will need to succeed in the trucking industry as a professional truck driver.

Tuition

The tuition covers the cost of:

  • DOT physical and drug screen
  • CDL permit
  • CDL skills test
  • Use of the school's vehicle for CDL testing
  • CDL license
  • Job placement assistance during and after training
  • Text books

Admission Requirements
Students must have valid driver’s license, pass a DOT physical examination and school approved drug screen.

  • 18 years of age allows students to drive in-state only.
  • Minimum age of 21 for interstate driving.
  • Students must have no more than six (6) points on his or her current license.
  • No DUI / DWI / OMVI motor vehicle substance convictions in the previous three (3) years.

Financial Aid
Financial aid is available based on eligibility through WIA, NAFTA, TAA, TRA, BVR, VA, Tuition Assistance, Montgomery GI Bill, employer sponsored, or Workforce Development. Private Student Loans accepted.

Passenger/Bus Training
16-hour Passenger/Bus Training class. Passenger/Bus training is $700. Current CDL License is required.

The Apollo Truck Driving Academy Program is:

  • A licensed CDL driving school by the Department of Public Safety through the State of Ohio Governor's Highway Safety Office.
  • An accredited US truck driving school(s) by the Ohio Department of Education through the Apollo Career Center.

Class A CDL Training

Truck Driver Training at Apollo Career Center is designed to help the student pass the CDL test and gain the necessary knowledge to succeed in the trucking industry. The day curriculum meets Federal entry level training requirements and the State of Ohio requirements to obtain a certificate of completion.  Both requirements are vital to obtain employment as a truck driver.

6-Week Day Course      $4,350

                                                                          ($4,800 after July 1, 2008)

The 6-Week Day Course consists of 64 hours (8 days) of classroom training and 176 (22 days) of range and road training. 

Classes meet Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

This course helps the student prepare for the written permit test and provides the most driving time.  Besides preparing the student to take the CDL test, this course has one class of night driving, backing into real docks, sliding tandem and fifth wheels, and additional backing maneuvering.

4-Week Accelerated Day Course        $3,450

The 4-Week Accelerated Day Course consists of 40 hours (5 days) of classroom and 120 hours (15 days) of range and road training.

Classes meet Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This course is designed for anyone that has had some experience with large trucks during their military, farm or business and industry career, or anyone that learns a new skill quickly.

The 8-Week Evening Course consists of 40 hours (8 evenings) of classroom and 120 hours (24 evenings) of range and road training.

Classes meet Monday - Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

This course works very well for first and third shift students or anyone that has commitments in the daytime.

20-Week Co-op Program     $4,500

The Co-op Program is designed to provide upward mobility in the transportation industry.  Active military in the National Guard or Army Reserve can use their tuition assistance to pay for this program.

Phase I is 192 hours of classroom, range and road, computer based, and online training designed to meet many different learning styles.  With advanced teaching methods, modern equipment, and patient and knowledgeable instructors.  The student is properly prepared to obtain their class A CDL before entering phase II of the training.

Phase II consists of 528 hours of on-the-job training while employed as a Class A truck driver.  Both phases provide college credit hours and a pathway to an associate degree.

Classes meet Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Class B CDL Course  $2,750

                                                                   ($3,000 after July 1, 2008)

The Class B CDL with Passenger Bus Endorsement program can be taken in the day or evening. 

Day classes meet Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Evening classes meet Monday - Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

The course consists of 40 classroom hours and 64 hours of range and road training.  At the end of the training, the student will take the CDL skill test in the school's vehicle.
