Apollo's Public Safety Training programs meet not only your local EMS, Fire, and Police department training needs, but also the safety and training needs of local business and industry.
Training may be conducted at any appropriate site, whether it is on campus at Apollo, or at your local department or industry, and is available on a twenty-four hour a day, seven day a week schedule. Apollo maintains facilities and equipment for all on-campus instruction, including a Fire Tower, Labs/Conference Rooms, and training equipment. Our program has grown to nearly one hundred part-time Public Safety Instructors and Assistant Instructors, all eager and willing to serve your training needs.
Service, commitment and quality is our business. Our faculty is well equipped to customize training and design programs that not only comply with the rules and standards of our State, but will meet your needs on a local level as well.

Fire Registration Packet
Volunteer Firefighter Course
This 36-hour basic training class is required by the state of Ohio for all new volunteer firefighters. Topics will include safety, fire behavior, personal protective equipment and much more.
Level I Transition Firefighter
Builds on the volunteer course and expands the understanding and capabilities of a firefighter.
Level II Firefighter
Upon completion of this level the firefighter is certified as Professional Firefighter II by state of Ohio.
Firefighter Reinstatement test = $25. Call 419.998.2997
If taken after July 24, 2009, you will also need 18 CEU's along with the test which will be good through 2010. After 2010, you must take your current certification fire class again.
911/Emergency Communication Training
This APCO state certification training is for Emergency (911) operators or those in the emergency communication field.
Emergency Medical Technician - Basic
Required for all persons who wish to be certified for pre-hospital care. This course contains class work and clinical experience. Students will learn operation of an ambulance, transportation and care of patients, and how to determine the nature and extent of illness or injury. Advanced life saving skills, including intubation and automatic defibrillation will be taught.
Emergency Medical Technician - Basic Refresher
This course uses the Ohio Department of Public Safety Division curriculum to include the following: preparatory, patient assessment, airway management, trauma patient management and medical patient management.
Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course
This course is designed to educate members of the fire departments and emergency medical services about the safe and efficient operation of emergency vehicles.
First Responder
This is a 40-hour course designed for firefighters, police officers and industry workers who may be called to assist in an emergency situation. Topics covered include airway management, patient assessment, cardiac management, illness and injury management, children and childbirth.
CPR Instructor Course
CPR - BLS Healthcare Provider
Pre-registration required! Saturdays, 8:30-5pm. Classes held monthly.
Thermal Injury Deat
Students will understand the interactions between fire investigators and the coroner, various artifacts seen in thermal related deaths, duties of the coroner, the need for teamwork, being cognizant of scene preservation, and recognizing appropriate documentation of runs involving death.
