ABLE / GED / ESOL / TRANSITIONS
ABLE/GED Orientation - Apollo Career Center location
All students are required to attend the orientation for entry into the program. We ask that students arrive on time. Skill training includes: basic language, math, reading, social studies, science and GED preparation. We also offer computer based instruction, basic computer skills, computer keyboarding, study skills, test taking skills, and pre-employment training. Students will be encouraged to spend twelve or more hours in the program.
We have students of varied ages and backgrounds.
Students will move at their own pace and individual skill areas.
Orientation is the first Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. Bring your photo ID.
Classes:
Tuesday and Thursday
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or
6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
ABLE/GED Orientation - ACCENT One Stop location
1501 S. Dixie Hwy.
Orientations are the first Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m.
Classes are Monday and Wednesday
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
*Note: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday classes for JFS eligible students ONLY - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
GED Testing Procedures
If you are 16 to 18 years old, you must have proper paperwork before entering class. Call or stop in.
- Enroll in a GED program and pass GED pretest.
- Complete application and register with the instructor, or online at www.ode.state.oh.us. Click on "Topic" and then on "GED".
- $40 registration fee (Visa, MC, or Money Order only)
- All GED applicants must be pre-registered. To register for the test, call 419-996-3080 or 3082
Testing Day
The test is held on the last Monday and Tuesday of each month from 3:15 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. each evening. Meet in the Commons area of the Apollo High School building. The test will not be delayed for any reason. Please bring your photo I.D. both nights. No coats, bags, cell phones or electronic equipment will be allowed in the testing area. Pencils and pens only! Summer test days/times may vary! Read your registration carefully!
Please call 419-996-3080 or 3082 if you need to cancel your testing. You will be charged $10 if you do not show up for the test and have not previously cancelled.
ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages)
Orientation is the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
Classes
Wednesday 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
FREE Skill Review Class (Study Tables)
Workplace Literacy, Pre-employment or College Prep Skills can be updated in the ABLE classroom. Skill review is available for Reading , Language, Basic and Intermediate Math and Information Skills. An orientation and assessment must be completed to enter the program. There is no charge for the skill review. Classes will be held in Apollo's Adult Education Building.
Study Tables available August through June: Mondays 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., or Tuesdays 3:45 p.m.- 5:45 p.m.
