Light Commercial / Residential Construction Program

This "hands-on" Combination course currently focuses on basic residential electrical wiring and HVAC.
These two courses can be taken together for a discount, or individually.
Students enrolled in this HVAC program will learn about:
- Theory of refrigeration
- Types of refrigerants
- Methods of heat transfer
- Electrical diagnosis
- Duct systems
- Heating service and repair
- Basic heating installation
- Air conditioning service and repair
- Low and high side compression system
- Preparation to help the student pass the EPA Certification Test
This course will allow each student to practice in our lab, the skills they have learned in the classroom.
At the end of this course, students will take the EPA Certification Test. The test fee is included in the tuition. (You must hold EPA Certification in order to purchase and work with AC chemical.
Students enrolled in this electrical program will first gain an overview of the basic skill need by a craftsperson in today's workforce. This core curriculum covers:
- Basic Safety Skills
- Basic Math Skills
- Introduction to Construction Drawing
- Hand and Power Tools
- Rigging
- Basic Communication Skills
- Basic Employability Skills
- Introduction to Material Handling
Upon completion of this core curriculum, the students will then begin to learn about the wonderful world of Electricity. This course covers everything from the best safety practice on the job to the theory behind why electricity works the way it does. Topics covered in the class/lab includes:
- Electrical Safety
- Electrical Theory
- Electrical Test Equipment
- Introduction to the National Electrical Code
- Identifying Fittings, Boxes and Types of Raceway
- Conductors
- Intro to Electrical Blueprints
- Wiring-Commercial, Industrial & Residential
